Axion One X720 for Post-Wash Drying on Potato Lines
Surface drying prepares washed tubers for reliable optical sorting and packing.
Galex's Axion One X720 high-speed turbo blower is applied to surface drying on potato washing lines, a step that determines whether washed tubers can move directly to optical sorting and packing.
Potatoes leave the washer carrying a film of free water. Left in place, that film interferes with optical sorters, which grade on colour and surface defects, and it introduces moisture into sealed retail packs, where condensation promotes mould growth and drives returns. Drying between washing and sorting is therefore a process requirement rather than a finishing touch.
In such installations the X720 feeds an air knife mounted above the conveyor. The blower is rated at 7.5 kW and delivers 18 m³/min at 200 mbar. This high-flow rating governs air-knife performance because surface moisture is stripped by air velocity at the nozzle rather than by static pressure.
The X720 delivers oil-free air, with no lubricant in the air path—a requirement where the discharge stream contacts food product. Its stainless steel enclosure suits the wet and humid conditions of a packing line. Intake air passes through GALEX QuickDraw fine filtration, local control is handled by a touch HMI, and MODBUS is available for line integration.
